The Jaecoo J5 EV has been spotted in Nepal, marking the arrival of a new contender in the country's rapidly growing electric SUV segment. The J5 EV is set to make its official debut at the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025.
Under the hood, the J5 EV packs a 58.9 kWh battery paired with a 155 kW (207 hp) electric motor that delivers 288 Nm of torque and a WLTP-certified range of 402 km.
Visually, the J5 EV is instantly recognizable by its redesigned front fascia, which replaces the conventional grille with a transparent panel featuring the Jaecoo logo. Sleek LED headlights and a minimalist bumper complete the futuristic look. The overall silhouette carries a strong Range Rover Evoque influence, reflected in design cues like the clamshell hood, full-width LED taillight, and roof-mounted spoiler.
Built on the same platform as the gasoline-powered J5, the EV retains identical dimensions: 4,380 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, 1,650 mm tall, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. Designed to handle varied terrain, it boasts a 20-degree approach angle and 30-degree departure angle, supported by MacPherson struts in the front and a multi-link suspension setup at the rear.
According to market sources, the Jaecoo J5 EV is expected to be priced under Rs 60 lakh, positioning it as an attractive new option in the premium EV space.
