The upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025 is set to witness the official launch of the Jaecoo J5 EV, a new entrant in Nepal's growing electric SUV market. The J5 EV boasts a 58.9 kWh battery paired with a 155 kW (207 hp) electric motor, generating 288 Nm of torque and delivering a WLTP-certified range of 402 kilometers.
Visually distinct from its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, the electric variant features a redesigned front fascia, replacing the traditional grille with a transparent panel that integrates the Jaecoo logo. Sharp LED headlights and a clean, minimalist front bumper contribute to its futuristic design language. The SUV's overall styling draws inspiration from vehicles like the Range Rover Evoque, seen in elements such as the clamshell hood, full-width LED tail lamp, and roof-mounted spoiler. Unlike some other Jaecoo models, the J5 EV opts for a more functional design with visible A-pillars and conventional door handles.
Built on the same platform as the gasoline-powered J5, the electric version retains its dimensions of 4,380 mm (L) x 1,860 mm (W) x 1,650 mm (H) with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. The SUV is engineered to handle varied driving conditions, featuring a 20-degree approach angle and 30-degree departure angle, with MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link suspension setup at the rear.
According to industry sources, the Jaecoo J5 EV is expected to be priced under Rs 60 lakh, placing it competitively within Nepal's premium electric SUV segment.
