Made in Nepal: Yatri P2 Electric Scooter Sighting Near Kathmandu Sparks Interest

    January 1, 2026

Yatri P2 Electric Scooter Spotted on Public Roads

The upcoming Yatri P2 electric scooter is inching closer to reality, with a recent sighting of a heavily camouflaged test mule on public roads. During a road trip, the Nepal Drives team caught a fleeting glimpse of the scooter, which appeared to be a Yatri Motorcycles model, judging by the partially visible logo. Although the sighting was brief, it was enough to notice the scooter's distinctive features, including a sharp and dynamic stance.

    Design and Features

The P2 electric scooter seems to boast an aggressive design with a muscular tail section and sharp body lines. It was seen riding on blacked-out alloy wheels, likely a 14-inch setup, which gives it a modern and "naked" look. The scooter also appears to feature a spacious flat floorboard and a wide bench seat with a short pillion grab rail, designed with everyday urban comfort in mind. Suspension and braking hardware, including a dual-sided rear spring suspension and disc brakes at both the front and rear, indicate a robust setup aimed at stability, control, and rider confidence.

    Strategic Joint Venture

The P2 project is a result of a strategic joint venture between Yatri Motorcycles and Sipradi Trading, announced in June 2024. This collaboration brings together Yatri's cutting-edge EV design and engineering expertise with Sipradi's four-plus decades of automotive experience and a robust distribution backbone. As a Sipradi-Yatri JV, the P2 is expected to benefit from one of the strongest after-sales and service networks in the country, addressing a key concern for many prospective electric two-wheeler buyers.

    After-Sales Advantage

Reliable service support and long-term ownership confidence are likely to play a decisive role in accelerating EV adoption, and this is where the P2 could enjoy a clear advantage over newer or less-established players. With the test mule now being spotted on public roads, it may only be a matter of time before Yatri officially launches the P2. Until then, the team will be keeping a close watch, hoping to catch the scooter again, this time in clearer view.

    Article Summary

Yatri Motorcycles' upcoming P2 electric scooter has been spotted testing on public roads in Nepal, hinting at its imminent launch. The scooter features a distinctive aluminium swingarm paired with a mid-mounted motor, aggressive body lines, and a muscular tail section, showcasing a focus on performance and durability. With a strategic joint venture between Yatri and Sipradi Trading, the P2 is expected to benefit from a robust after-sales and service network, potentially giving it an edge over competitors in the electric two-wheeler market.
