Nepal's Highest Altitude Electric Vehicle Charging Station Launched in Upper Mustang by Omoda and Jaecoo

    September 18, 2025

Electric Vehicle Charging Station Inaugurated in Upper Mustang

SPG Automobiles has launched a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Tsarang, Upper Mustang, located along the Mustang–Jomsom–Korala Highway. The inauguration was led by Damodarkunda Rural Municipality Chairperson, Mr. Lopsang Chomfel Bista, marking a significant milestone in the region's sustainable mobility.

    Overcoming Technical Challenges

The new EV charging station, installed by Omoda & Jaecoo, boasts an impressive altitude of over 3,500 meters above sea level, making it the highest-altitude EV charging station in Nepal. According to Mr. Krishna Pokharel, General Manager – Service & After Sales at SPG Automobiles, the installation was made possible through consultations with local representatives and stakeholders, despite the absence of a 33 kV transmission line from the Nepal Electricity Authority.

    Enhancing Mobility and Sustainability

The establishment of this charging station is expected to enhance mobility in the region, creating local employment opportunities and contributing to environmental sustainability. This development will enable travelers to commute to Upper Mustang and Korala border with ease, without being forced to leave their EVs behind due to the lack of charging infrastructure. By pioneering sustainable mobility solutions in Nepal, SPG Automobiles and Omoda & Jaecoo are bringing reliable EV infrastructure to even the most remote and high-altitude regions of the country.
