Ampere Nexus EX+ Launched at ₹1.30 Lakh in India

Key Takeaways

  • Ampere Nexus EX+ launched in India at ₹1,29,999; the Intellipack variant is ₹1,35,999
  • 5 kW motor with 202 Nm claimed wheel torque, up from the Nexus EX's 3.3 kW
  • 3 kWh LFP battery with 136 km claimed range and about 100 km real-world
  • 5-year or 75,000 km battery warranty and an IP65-rated charger
  • No confirmed Nepal launch or price yet; the Indian price excludes Nepal import duties

The Ampere Nexus EX+ has launched in India at ₹1,29,999 (ex-showroom), about ₹1.30 lakh, and it brings a stronger 5 kW motor, a 3 kWh LFP battery and a claimed range of 136 km. That price is in Indian rupees. It is not a Nepal price. At the time of writing we have not seen an official Nepal launch, Nepal pricing or a Nepal delivery date for the EX+.

The scooter comes from Ampere, the electric two-wheeler brand of Greaves Electric Mobility. It sits at the top of the Nexus family and replaces the older Nexus EX's 3.3 kW motor with a 5 kW unit. It also adds an IP65-rated charger and a longer battery warranty. For Nepali buyers the main question is whether the EX+ will follow the standard Nexus across the border, and what it would cost once Nepal's import duties apply.

This guide separates what is confirmed (the Indian launch specs) from what is not (Nepal availability and price). We also show how the EX+ compares with the standard Ampere Nexus already listed on our platform.

Key Highlights

  • Indian launch price: ₹1,29,999 for the standard EX+ and ₹1,35,999 for the Intellipack variant (ex-showroom)
  • Motor: 5 kW with a claimed 202 Nm of peak wheel torque
  • Battery: 3 kWh LFP pack, with a 5-year or 75,000 km battery warranty
  • Claimed range: 136 km per charge, while real-world estimates sit around 100 km
  • Charging: about 3 hours 10 minutes for 0-80% (claimed), with an IP65-rated charger
  • Performance: 0-40 km/h in about 4.5 seconds (claimed), top speed of 90-93 km/h depending on the source
  • Nepal status: no confirmed Nepal launch or price for the EX+ yet

Detailed Analysis

What changed from the Nexus EX

The EX+ is an update, not a new platform. The 3 kWh battery and 136 km claimed range carry over from the Nexus EX. The visible gains are in the drivetrain and the charging hardware:

Feature Nexus EX Nexus EX+
Motor 3.3 kW 5 kW
Peak wheel torque Lower (not quoted here) 202 Nm (claimed)
Battery 3 kWh 3 kWh LFP
Claimed range 136 km 136 km
Charger Standard IP65-rated
Battery warranty Not compared 5 years or 75,000 km

The bigger motor changes how the scooter feels more than how far it goes. Torque of 202 Nm at the wheel should help most on steep climbs and when pulling away from traffic lights with a pillion rider.

Price and variants

Variant Indian ex-showroom price Approx. conversion at the fixed 1.6 NPR per INR peg
Nexus EX+ ₹1,29,999 about Rs. 2,07,998
Nexus EX+ Intellipack ₹1,35,999 about Rs. 2,17,598

Important: These NPR figures are a straight currency conversion and nothing more. They are not a Nepal price. A scooter imported into Nepal carries customs duty, excise, VAT, dealer margin and logistics costs, so a Nepal price would be well above the converted figure. Treat the conversion only as a floor.

The launch coverage we found does not explain what the Intellipack adds. Check the dealer or manufacturer specification sheet before assuming the extra ₹6,000 buys a particular feature.

Range: claimed versus real

Ampere quotes 136 km on a single charge. Independent ownership-style guides put realistic range nearer 100 km. That gap is normal for electric scooters, because claimed figures come from test cycles at steady, moderate speeds.

In Nepal, three things will push real range lower than the Indian estimate:

  • Hills: climbing out of Kathmandu valley or along the Prithvi Highway drains a small pack quickly
  • Heavy traffic: frequent stop-and-go helps regeneration only a little
  • Pillion and cargo: two adults plus bags can cut range noticeably

If your commute is 30-40 km a day, even a conservative 80-90 km of real range means charging only every two to three days.

Charging and running cost

The claimed 0-80% charge time is about 3 hours 10 minutes, with a full charge in roughly 4 hours. The IP65 rating means the charger resists dust and water jets, which is useful during monsoon season if you charge in a garage or on a veranda.

Charging a 3 kWh pack at the Nepal home rate of roughly Rs. 10-12 per kWh costs about Rs. 30-36 for a full charge, before charger losses. At a real-world 100 km that is only a few rupees per 10 km, which is cheaper than a petrol scooter by a wide margin. Public NEA stations at Rs. 6-10.5 per kWh would cost even less, although most scooter owners will charge at home.

Performance

Ampere claims 0-40 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Top speed is reported as 93 km/h by one outlet and 90 km/h by another, so quote it as roughly 90 km/h. For Kathmandu valley traffic and highway stretches around Pokhara or Chitwan that is more than enough. Most owners will spend their time at 30-50 km/h.

Impact on Nepal EV Market

The EX+ matters to Nepal even without a local launch, for three reasons.

1. It raises the bar for the Nexus line. Ampere already sells the standard Nexus in Nepal. Our listing for the Ampere Nexus shows a price of Rs. 3,34,000 and a range of 107 km. If the EX+ arrives, buyers will compare it directly with that variant. A 5 kW motor and a warranty of 5 years or 75,000 km would be a strong selling point against it.

2. It shows where entry-level scooter pricing is heading. An Indian price of about ₹1.30 lakh for a 5 kW, 3 kWh scooter shows how much equipment manufacturers now offer at the mid-range price point. Nepali dealers selling scooters with smaller motors will face questions about why their prices are higher.

3. Import duties still decide the final price. The gap between the Indian ex-showroom price and the final Nepal price comes mostly from taxes and distribution costs. Until a Nepal importer announces an EX+ price, any figure you see online is speculation.

Pro tip: If you are shopping for a scooter now, do not wait for the EX+ on speculation. Compare what is actually on sale using our Compare EVs tool, and check the standard Nexus page for current Nepal pricing.

Who it suits

Buyer Fit with EX+
Daily commuter, 30-40 km Very good, with charging needed only every few days
Hilly-area rider Good, because the 5 kW motor and high torque help on slopes
Long-distance rider Limited, since real range is around 100 km
Budget buyer Depends on the Nepal price, which is not yet confirmed
Used-market shopper See the Used EVs section for alternatives

What to Expect Next

No Nepal launch date has been announced. Our expectation is based on how Ampere has handled earlier models, not on any confirmed plan.

  • Near term: watch for an announcement from Ampere's Nepal importer or dealer network, and for pre-booking notices
  • After an announcement: expect a Nepal price noticeably above the converted ₹1.30 lakh figure, because duties and distribution costs apply
  • Service readiness: before you buy, ask the dealer about battery warranty terms in Nepal, since the 5-year or 75,000 km cover was announced for India
  • Parts and support: check service centre locations outside Kathmandu valley if you ride in the hills

We will update this article once an importer confirms a price and delivery schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the price of the Ampere Nexus EX+?

A: In India the Nexus EX+ costs ₹1,29,999 (ex-showroom) for the standard variant and ₹1,35,999 for the Intellipack variant. These are Indian rupee prices. No official Nepal price has been announced, and a Nepal price would include import duties and dealer costs.

Q: What is the range of the Ampere Nexus EX+?

A: Ampere claims 136 km on a full charge from its 3 kWh LFP battery. Real-world riding is estimated at around 100 km, and Nepal's hills and traffic could reduce that further, especially with a pillion rider.

Q: Is the Ampere Nexus EX+ available in Nepal?

A: Not as far as we can confirm. We found no Nepal launch announcement for the EX+. The standard Ampere Nexus is listed in Nepal, so check with an authorised dealer for the latest availability.

Q: How much does it cost to charge the Nexus EX+?

A: The battery is 3 kWh. At the Nepal home electricity rate of about Rs. 10-12 per kWh, a full charge costs roughly Rs. 30-36 before charger losses. Charging at a public NEA station at Rs. 6-10.5 per kWh would cost less.

Q: What is new in the Nexus EX+ compared with the Nexus EX?

A: The EX+ has a 5 kW motor (the EX has 3.3 kW), a claimed 202 Nm of peak wheel torque, an IP65-rated charger and a battery warranty of 5 years or 75,000 km. The 3 kWh battery and 136 km claimed range are the same as the EX.
