GO Auto Launches MG Hector Tomahawk EV in Nepal

GO Auto has introduced the MG Hector Tomahawk EV in Nepal, marking a significant entry into the country’s electric SUV market. This three-row electric SUV comes equipped with a robust 69.2 kWh battery pack and boasts a claimed range of 517 km. The Excite variant is priced at Rs 61.99 lakh, but the first 50 customers can avail an introductory price of Rs 57.99 lakh, offering a discount of Rs 4 lakh.

Design and Dimensions

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV shares its underlying platform with the Wuling Eksion EV, already available in Nepal. Despite being badge-engineered, the two models may differ in equipment and specifications depending on the market and variant. The Hector Tomahawk EV measures 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width (excluding mirrors), and 1,770 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm. It features 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 R18 tyres, MacPherson strut suspension at the front, and independent multi-link suspension at the rear. All four wheels are fitted with disc brakes.

Performance and Charging

Powered by an electric motor, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV delivers 150 kW of maximum power and 310 Nm of torque. The vehicle’s battery is capable of achieving a claimed range of 517 km under the MIDC test cycle. However, real-world range may vary based on driving style, traffic conditions, road conditions, and vehicle load.

The SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 90 kW, enabling a 30–80 percent charge in approximately 35 minutes. For those preferring AC charging, a 7.4 kW charger can charge the vehicle from 10 to 100 percent in about 12.5 hours.

Interior and Comfort

The Excite variant of the MG Hector Tomahawk EV features a Desert Squadron interior theme with man-made leather upholstery. The cabin is equipped with an 8.8-inch multi-information display and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker audio system with tweeters, cruise control, push-button start, and four drive modes – Eco, Normal, Sport, and Custom.

Comfort features include a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a four-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, power-folding ORVMs, rear AC vents, USB charging ports, and a 60:40 split-folding second-row seat. The seven-seat configuration also offers a folding third row and dedicated third-row AC vents. Boot space ranges from 192 litres with all three rows in use to 528 litres with the third row folded. The five-seat version provides 610 litres, expandable to 1,053 litres with the second row folded.

Exterior Features

Exterior highlights of the MG Hector Tomahawk EV include LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs and tail lamps, an illuminated front logo, roof rails, side body cladding, a rear spoiler, and 18-inch precision-cut rotor-style alloy wheels.

Safety Features

Safety is a priority in the MG Hector Tomahawk EV, which comes equipped with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), traction control, hill-hold control, ABS with EBD, brake assist, an electric parking brake with auto hold, and a direct tyre-pressure monitoring system. Additional safety features include rear parking sensors, a reverse parking camera, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, and seatbelt reminders for all seats.

Additional Functionalities

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing it to power compatible external devices. Vehicle-to-home (V2H) functionality is also available but requires a compatible, separately sold unit.

Market Positioning

Priced at Rs 61.99 lakh, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV enters Nepal’s competitive electric SUV market with a substantial battery, a long claimed range, and a feature-rich cabin. The introductory price of Rs 57.99 lakh for the first 50 customers makes it an attractive option. However, the presence of the Wuling Eksion EV in the Nepalese market adds an interesting dynamic, as both vehicles offer closely related electric SUVs under different badges.
