Cimex Inc, the authorised BYD distributor in Nepal, has put the BYD Shark 6 plug-in hybrid pickup on display at the NADA Auto Show 2026. The company has not announced a price, so treat this as a look at what may come rather than something you can book.
The powertrain
The Shark 6 sits on BYD's DMO Super Hybrid Off-road Platform, where DMO stands for Dual Mode Off-road. It combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors.

That is enough for 0 to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 160 kmph. Those are numbers a pickup buyer in Nepal has not had access to before.
Battery and range
A 29.58 kWh BYD Blade battery gives a claimed 100 km of pure electric range, with a combined range of up to 840 km. For Kathmandu use that means most daily running can happen on electricity, with the petrol engine there for the long drives where charging is thin.
Size and capability
The Shark 6 measures 5,457 mm long, 1,971 mm wide and 1,925 mm tall, on a 3,260 mm wheelbase. It carries an 835 kg payload, tows up to 2,500 kg, runs four-wheel drive with Sand, Mud and Snow modes, and uses independent suspension at both ends, which is unusual in a segment that normally runs a live rear axle.
Inside
The cabin gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a rotating infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also included are a digital key, voice control, remote vehicle management, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging and a head-up display.
