Nepal Vehicle Market Report Q3 2026

Published by Milan Mahat, EV News Nepal. Covers electric and petrol vehicles sold in Nepal, electric first.

Key findings

In July to September 2026 we added 41 new electric models (54 variants) and 8 petrol models (11 variants) to the EV News Nepal catalogue, most of them around the NAIMA and NADA shows in August. Listed prices changed on 24 electric models (42 variants) and 44 petrol models (73 variants): electric prices moved both ways, while 71 of the 73 petrol revisions were rises. On 30 September the cheapest electric car in Nepal was the Seres E1 Mid at Rs. 16,49,000 and the cheapest electric scooter the Yadea X-Sky at Rs. 1,10,000.

After Nepal moved electric vehicle tax from motor power to vehicle value in mid-July 2026, cheaper electric cars (under Rs. 40 lakh at the start of the quarter) were more often cut, and pricier ones more often raised. The biggest single move was the Maxus MIFA 7 (Rs. 1.25 crore to Rs. 2.45 crore).

The mid-July EV tax change

After Nepal moved electric vehicle tax from motor power to vehicle value in mid-July 2026, cheaper electric cars (under Rs. 40 lakh at the start of the quarter) were more often cut, and pricier ones more often raised. Cuts included the BAW Brumby (Rs. 22,99,000 to Rs. 19,99,000) and Dongfeng Nammi 01 E3 Single Tone 50kW (Rs. 36,25,000 to Rs. 32,99,000). Rises included the Maxus MIFA 7 (Rs. 1.25 crore to Rs. 2.45 crore), BYD Sealion 7 Premium RWD (Rs. 79,99,000 to Rs. 92,99,000) and BYD Atto 3 Superior (Rs. 67,80,000 to Rs. 78,00,000). Not every price followed the pattern: the Omoda E5 Dual Tone (Rs. 62,49,000 to Rs. 57,39,000) came down.

The catalogue shows the direction of these moves but cannot tie any single revision to the tax change, since distributors also changed trims, motors and launch pricing in the same months.

Most-researched models on EV News Nepal in Q3

The five models buyers researched most on EV News Nepal between July and September 2026, listed alphabetically:

Methodology and limitations

The report covers 1 July to 30 September 2026 and the EV News Nepal catalogue of 297 electric and 723 petrol and diesel variants listed as sold in Nepal. Prices are ex-showroom in Nepal; 1 lakh is NPR 100,000 and 1 crore is NPR 10,000,000.

  • Price revisions compare each variant's listed price on 30 June and 30 September, rebuilt from the price history we keep for every record. Moves under 0.5% are treated as rounding. The date is when our catalogue changed, which can trail the distributor's own announcement, and some revisions bring a stale listing up to date rather than reflect a new price set in the quarter. Limited-time show offers are kept apart from list prices where we know of them, so they do not count as revisions. One placeholder price replaced by the first official price is excluded.
  • New launches are variants first added to our catalogue in the quarter, which is not always the distributor's launch date. Listing dates are incomplete for older petrol records, so the petrol count is a floor. Show tags come from our NAIMA and NADA 2026 show pages.
  • Price bands and cheapest models use every listed variant with a published price on 30 September, excluding models not yet on sale.
  • Most-researched models are ranked internally from our own site analytics, summed across each model's variant pages. Only the names are published.

Detailed demand data (model and brand level views and enquiries) is available to distributors and advertisers on request: contact@evnewsnepal.com.
