The BAIC BJ30 Hybrid SUV has been spotted in Kathmandu, Nepal, ahead of its official launch at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026. This marks a significant entry into the Nepali market for BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd.), one of China’s largest automotive manufacturers, through Laxmi Motorhub, part of the Laxmi Group. The BJ30 will be BAIC’s first passenger vehicle offering in Nepal.

Positioned as a rugged lifestyle hybrid SUV, the BJ30 blends off-road-inspired aesthetics with modern hybrid technology. It targets buyers seeking a versatile SUV capable of handling both everyday urban driving and weekend adventures. The front fascia showcases BAIC’s signature five-slot grille design, paired with sharp LED headlights and a strong SUV stance. Powerful Hybrid Powertrain and All-Wheel Drive

For the Nepali market, the BAIC BJ30 is expected to feature BAIC’s Magic Core DHEV hybrid powertrain. This system combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with front and rear electric motors, paired with a 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). The hybrid system is designed to deliver strong performance while improving fuel efficiency compared to conventional petrol-powered SUVs.

The range-topping all-wheel-drive version produces a combined output of 409 hp and 685 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.59 seconds. The BJ30 offers multiple driving modes, including Comfort, Economy, Sport, and Snow modes, with the intelligent all-wheel-drive version adding Mud, Sand, and Wading modes for challenging conditions. With 215 mm of ground clearance and BAIC’s Intelligent ATS all-terrain control system, the BJ30 is built for capability beyond normal road use.
