    LS Auto Debuts Tinkune Showroom, Prepares to Unveil 2 Electric Vehicle Models at Nepal Mobility Expo 2023

    Nexon Ventures has opened a new EV showroom in Kathmandu, Nepal, featuring a dedicated charging station and service center for LS Auto's electric vehicles. LS Auto will debut two new EV models, the LV5 and LVX, at the Nepal Mobility Expo 2025, August 6-10 in Kathmandu. The LS Auto LEV 01 electric crossover SUV is available in SE and CE variants, priced at Rs 59.95 lakh and Rs 64.95 lakh respectively, with a 99 kW motor and 67.1 kWh battery offering over 500 km range. The LEV 01 features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS, with an 8-year/150,000 km warranty on motor and battery.

    Electric Vehicle Tax Rates Unaffected in 2022-2023 Budget Announcement

    Nepal's Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel announced no changes to the current electric vehicle (EV) tax structure for the fiscal year 2025-26. A 1% customs duty will be imposed on imports of equipment for establishing EV charging station industries, with a 5-year income tax exemption for these industries. The current EV tax rates range from 15% customs duty for cars with up to 50 kW motor capacity to 80% for those above 301 kW. The government's decision provides policy stability but some stakeholders had hoped for further tax relief to accelerate EV adoption in Nepal. This cautious approach reflects the government's strategy as Nepal's EV market continues to develop.

Ltd. launched the Maxus eTerron 9 electric pickup truck in Nepal’s Manang district at an altitude of 3,519 meters, marking the highest-altitude debut of a luxury EV in the country. The eTerron 9 features a powerful dual-motor 4WD system with 325 kW total output, 700 Nm torque, and a 0-100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds, capable of reaching a top speed of 190 km/h.
